Perfecting and Promising

Because life's too short to drink stale coffee, at Belaroma we're obsessive about helping you make the perfect cup of coffee. That's why freshness is so important. If there's one moment that's absolutely critical it's the time between roasting and packing. One of Italy's most respected coffee roasters states that coffee packed 8 hours after roasting has 40% less shelf life than coffee packed 1 hour after roasting.

We'll we go further. Much further. Our promise is to pack our coffee within minutes of roasting which guarantees the freshness, flavour and aroma are unrivalled. We know we can deliver on our promise because of the scientifically controlled processes we have in place.

Searching and Controlling

From the high altitudes of Colombia in South America to the gentle slopes of East Africa and the rich valleys of Sumatra, Belaroma searches the world with one aim in mind - to select only the premium grades of coffee from the best producing countries for the most discerning palates.

Before they're purchased and upon arrival, these exceptional beans are quality checked and checked again, and then double cleaned and screened, removing any impurities from the coffee.

Roasting and Cooling

This is where our top of the range Italian Brambati Roaster rises to the occasion. The first of its type in the southern hemisphere, this state of the art computerised technology ensures that the accuracy of temperature and the consistency of the roast profile and colour match are unsurpassed. Our Master Roaster supervises every stage of this vital process.

Now, unlike most of our competitors who use a water spray to cool their roasted coffee, Belaroma's freshly roasted beans are only ever air-cooled. This means our coffee contains 0% added moisture. (Remember, water and roasted beans should never mix until the moment of brewing).

Blending

Since 1968, Belaroma has earned quite a reputation in the fine art of blending coffees from different regions. Currently we offer eight principal blends, however, because we always put our customers first, we often roast special blends for individual needs.

Packing and Storing

Minutes later when the coffee is vacuum packed, our beans have entered an oxygen-free zone. Thanks to a combination of our Goglio Luigi one-way valves and the exclusive Australian designed triple-poly bags, no oxygen is allowed in but the naturally occurring CO2 released by the fresh beans is allowed to escape.

To guarantee that everyone gets the freshest coffee possible, we prefer to pack in smaller sized bags and deliver them more frequently.

We try to hold no more than about one week's stock of most products. That way our customers get their coffee as soon as possible after roasting. If this means roasting and packing around the clock, so be it. (Well, we said we were perfectionists). In contrast consider the number of weeks involved between the roasting, shipping, warehousing and delivering of coffee imported from Italy.

We also recommend that customers do not leave coffee beans in hoppers overnight.
